Welcome to our school
Sianyanga Primary School lies in Mabale Ward, a rural area under Chief Nelukoba in Hwange District in the north-western part of Zimbabwe. Sianyanga is about 8 km eastward from Lupote Business Centre. Lupote centre is just off the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Highway, about 62 km from Hwange Town and 6 km from Cross Dete. The school was founded in 1930 as a Mission School and was originally called St. Joseph Primary School. It offers curriculum that ranges from Early Childhood Development (ECD) to Primary School education Grades 1 - 7 at the end of which students are awarded a Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council (ZIMSEC) Primary School Certificate.

There are 3 classroom block buildings of two classrooms each at Sianyanga Primary School. Typical enrollment is usually between 200 - 250 students at any given time. There is a shortage of classroom space and particularly for ECD classes as well as administrative work. The School Development Committee (SDC), which is composed of some members of staff and parents, is currently working hard to raise funds for building of the ECD and Administration building. There is currently no electrical power supply to the school despite existence of a grid connection. This is due to a past electrical fault that has not yet been resolved in many years.

The local language in the Sianyanga area is Dombe which is a dialect of the Tonga language spoken in parts of northwestern Zimbabwe.

Mr. John E. Ncube,
Headmaster
I was born and raised in Mabale, Hwange District of Zimbabwe. I attended primary school at Sianyanga. My secondary education was at Fatima but was disrupted by the war in my third year. After Zimbabwe's independence, through private studies, I completed my O'level. I received my Teacher Certification from the United College of Education. Due to the remoteness of Sianyanga, it was difficult to find teachers to work at the school. It was my vision to return, help my community and develop my own people through education.

I am grateful to teach our children, contribute to our community and share Sianyanga's story.

Thank you for your interest in our school.
